Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales refuse to tour Bangladesh
Eoin Morgan, England's limited-overs captain, will not travel to Bangladesh to lead the team in their one-day series due to concerns about security, the ECB has confirmed. Opening batsman Alex Hales has also ruled himself out of the tour for the same reasons.

Jos Buttler, the team's vice-captain, will take charge in Morgan's absence, with squads for the three ODIs and two Tests set to be announced on Friday. Morgan and Hales were foremost among the players to have spoken of their uncertainty about going to Bangladesh, after a terrorist attack in July, and communicated their intentions to Andrew Strauss, England's director of cricket, at the weekend.

Reaction
Former England captain Michael Vaughan has described Morgan's decision as a "huge mistake",while Nasser Hussain, another ex-skipper of the national side, said Morgan "should be with his team".

Bowlers Andrew Caddick and Robert Croft pulled out of England's 2001 tour of India because of safety concerns following the 9/11 attacks in New York.
"I was adamant I didn't want to go and stuck to what I thought was right," Caddick told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek programme before Morgan and Hales made their announcement on Sunday.
"It's slightly different now. The security they implement in world cricket is quite high, whereas back in 2001 it wasn't.
"Eoin Morgan has experienced risks to security in the past. Nobody else in the England team has. It's a personal decision and it should stay that way."

Former spinner Graeme Swann, who was part of the England squad that returned to India after the Mumbai bombings in 2008, said he would not travel to Bangladesh if he was still playing.

"We are a target," he said. "If I was in that situation, I wouldn't go."

Re: Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales refuse to tour Bangladesh
Morgan has signed for the first half of the Big Bash with Sydney Thunder before the India tour so will be available having had some cricket.
As has David Willey for the Perth Scorchers.

The coach of Sydney Thunder is Paddy Upton , a South African.

Re: Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales refuse to tour Bangladesh
I see Morgan has signed up for the big bash, so maybe he's more interested in money than captaining his adopted country.

Even more embarrassing than our selectors actually thinking he's any good is that some Aussie twat thinks he's worth paying thousands for 5 weeks work, when he's clearly shite.

Their lives, their choice. Up to them as far as I'm concerned. At least they aren't sheep doing what they think they should just to save face.

Do what you want to do and be who you want to be.

Plus I bet Bangladesh fucking stinks.

I thought the summer series with Pakistan was excellent.

Not a bad unit when they concentrate on cricket and not cheating.

The likes of Pakistan and Bangladesh should be wiped off the fixture calendar anyway. Have nothing whatsoever to do with the scummy cunts.

I'm not saying its a majority vote as obviously these players cant be ordered to go.
Saying that the players COULD say that if not all my teammates are happy to go NONE of us will go.

Bit gay though.

Can't go through life not doing things because there's a load of rag head cock suckers out there.

Re: Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales refuse to tour Bangladesh
In fairness to them I don't think your personal safety is something that should be decided by a majority vote

Even if all the other players are happy to travel, if they dot feel comfortable with it then fair play to them. I don't see why it's an issue

Re: Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales refuse to tour Bangladesh
If they don't fancy it, for whatever reason, I don't see why they should be forced into it or made to feel like pariahs. It's not military service, it's a game of cricket.

Re: Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales refuse to tour Bangladesh
They could only make their own decisions and as a teammate you should respect that.
The alternative is that the team gets together and they decide that they are all going or none of them are.

Woodford Green 12:23 Mon Sep 12
Re: Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales refuse to tour Bangladesh
This decision is a massive sign of disrespect to their team mates. It's almost as if they are saying their lives are more important than the rest.

I would wonder how they can re-integrate themselves back in the team afterwards but I remember Lampard and 2 or 3 other Chelsea players refused to play a CL game in Israel and it didn't seem to affect them.
